It was a mixed bag when it came to my fantasy football D/ST rankings in Week 1. Accuracy-wise I was bang in-line with the average over at Fantasy Pros, which I’ll take and see if what I learned from the first weekend of the new season and apply to the Week 2 rankings.

My biggest wins came from the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, Denver Broncos and Washington who I had ranked as top-10 D/STs. My my biggest misses came from the Baltimore Ravens, New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts and Buffalo Bills, who all finished outside the top-10 positions that I ranked them in.

I’ll continue to post my D/ST rankings for fantasy football each, and will break down the key teams you can look to start, top streamers, and my favorite value DFS play for the week ahead.

Start of the Week

New England Patriots @ New York Jets — I’m following the age old trope of how rookie quarterbacks struggle when facing Bill Belichick’s defenses here but I think this has some legs. Zach Wilson was far from perfect in his debut and you know the Patriots are going to throw things at him that he’s never seen before. That all adds up to multiple potential turnovers a Patriots defense that pushes for double digit points in Week 2.

Top Streamer of the Week

Arizona Cardinals vs Minnesota Vikings (4% rostered) — My streamer for Week 1, the Los Angeles Chargers did well last week, finishing as the DST8 with eight points against Washington. This week I’m looking at the Cardinals as my top streaming option. They are an incredibly low rostered team despite finishing as the DST1 in fantasy in Week 1 as Chandler Jones turned into the Hulk as he finished with five sacks. This week they welcome the Vikings to the desert, a team that allowed three sacks in Week 1 and are a good match up for a Cardinals team flying after their opening week victory. Available almost everywhere, they are a must as a streaming option for Week 2.

DFS Value Play of the Week

Carolina Panthers vs New Orleans Saints ($2,700) — Last week’s DFS value play of the Colts didn’t hit as they only managed three points in the loss to the Seahawks. This week there looks to be some good value in the Panthers as they face the Saints at home. Though the Saints dominated the Green Bay Packers in their surprise Week 1 victory, a series of short fields meant they overwhelmed the opposition. That sort of lopsided game isn’t normally repeated and I fancy the Panthers to get after Jameis Winston this week better than the Packers were able to. The Panthers recorded six sacks in their victory over the Jets, tied for the most in the league and should be able to put some pressure on Winston and cause some turnovers.
