Welcome to defense D/ST rankings and streamers for Week 9 fantasy football.
It was a great week to roster the right defense in Week 8, with a huge nine teams scoring 10 or more fantasy points. The top scorers were the Eagles, who scored 21 points and had 6 sacks, a defensive touchdown and just 6 points allowed in a thrashing of the Lions. My overall rankings were again in line with the Expert Consensus rankings at Fantasy Pros, with my biggest miss coming from the Buccaneers, who managed a big fat 0 against the Saints to be the D/ST26 where I had them ranked as the D/ST5. My stream of the week for Week 8, the Bengals, earned you an OK 7 points as the D/ST12, though my DFS play of the week was better as the Bills scored 10 points to finish as the D/ST8.
With an ever growing amount of tape and data at hand, I go again in Week 9 to bring you my D/ST rankings for the next round of match ups. I will continue to post my rankings each week, and give you a team you can look to stream, plus my favorite DFS plays for the week ahead. We have four teams on bye this week, and that means no Buccaneers, Lions, Seahawks or Washington Football Team in the rankings for Week 9.
These rankings are subject to change throughout the week, so check back as any quarterback news drops to see how it’s reflected in my rankings. If you have any specific quarterback rankings or starts and sits questions, drop them in the comments or you can get me @PaddiCooper on Twitter.
Stream of the Week: Miami Dolphins vs Houston Texans (9% rostered)
The Texans are currently my 30th ranked offense per my NEFF rankings and therefore should give the Dolphins defense something to get after this week. The Dolphins have been a pretty poor defense themselves, ranking 29th in my NEFF rankings and 27th in fantasy points but at just 9% rostered, are a streaming option that are available in the majority of leagues that has some upside this week.
Alternative streamer – Chicago Bears @ Pittsburgh Steelers (13% rostered)
DFS Play of the Week: New Orleans Saints vs Atlanta Falcons ($3,700)
The Saints did a number on Tom Brady last week and should find it even easier this week when they welcome the Falcons to the Superdome. The Falcons offense which has been a bottom five outfit this season is again set to be missing Calvin Ridley, and if their number one ranked pass defense can limit Cordarrelle Patterson, then the Saints should be a top-3 fantasy defense again this week.
Alternative DFS play – San Francisco 49ers ($2,800) vs Arizona Cardinals
