It’s Week 5 fantasy football, marking the fifth week I’ve dutifully, painstakingly crafted the internet’s most transparent kicker rankings article. What is there to say at this point that has not already been said? Should I wax poetic about the golden age of kicking where Justin Tucker is splitting the uprights from his own end-zone? Perhaps I should spend a couple-hundred words on the kicker-cursed organizations like the Vikings or the Titans?
You say the word, and I’ll do it. Otherwise, to the ranks!
We’re changing it up a little at Nerdballff.com on our ranks articles. Instead of going in-depth, we’re calling our shot with a solid DFS play and an our favorite streamer for the week. Since DFS sites have abandoned kickers like reason on social media, I’ll call out a favorite streamer and a deep-shot streamer here.
Modest Stream of the Week: Graham Gano @ Dallas Cowboys
Gano had his consecutive field-goal streak come to a close with his miss last week against the Saints. However, Gano is the ninth-highest scoring kicker and only rostered in about 20% of CBS fantasy leagues. The Giants travel to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in a game with an over/under of about 51 points. Dallas is expected to win, handily (they are a 7.5 point favorite at the time of the writing of this article), but divisional rivalries can get weird in a hurry. Maybe we’ll see a defensive struggle where the kickers, rather than Saquon Barkley and Ezekiel Elliot, are the fantasy studs this week.
As an added bonus, playing Gano allows his fantasy GMs to exclaim a guttural roar of “Ga-YES” after every made kick.
‘What Leagues Are You Playing In, I Wish Guys Like That Were Available In My Leagues’ Streamer: Nick Folk @ Houston Texans
Folks is rostered in 10% of CBS leagues, and with the Patriots set to travel to Houston to take on a terrible Texans side, Folk’s leg could get quite the workout on Sunday. The Texans just game up 16 kicker-points to Tyler Bass (of Buffalo Bills fame), and the Texans are struggling to stop anyone not named the Jaguars. The Patriots should have no trouble moving the ball, and their conservative play may result in lots of yards and field goals rather than those risky TDs.
