Michael Carter out 2-3 weeks with high-ankle sprain

New York Jets rookie running back Michael Carter is out two to three weeks with a low-grade high ankle sprain (per Adam Schefter)

Fantasy Impact: With Carter out, the Jets’ backfield will likely be a combination of Ty Johnson and Tevin Coleman. While Coleman will get carries, Johnson is the back worth rostering thanks to his ability in the passing game.

Amari Cooper placed on Cowboys’ reserve/COVID list, out Week 11

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper will not play Week 11 vs Kansas City Chiefs after being placed on team’s reserve/COVID list (per Ian Rapoport)

Fantasy Impact: Cooper’s status is also up in the air for Dallas’ Week 12 game which is Thursday night. With Cooper out, CeeDee Lamb is a locked-in top-5 WR in what is sure to be an offensive shootout. Michael Gallup is a WR3 with WR2 upside and Dalton Schultz is likely to return to the land of the fantasy living.

Aaron Jones expected to miss 1-2 weeks with mild MCL sprain

Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is expected to miss one to two weeks with a mild MCL sprain (per Adam Schefter)

Fantasy Impact: This is honestly is the best case scenario for Jones. The MCL injury could have kept him out a lot longer but the mild sprain seems like it won’t keep him out long. With Jones out, AJ Dillon becomes a weekly RB1. He crushed the Seahawks defense Sunday amassing over 120 total yards and 2 touchdowns.

Odell Beckham Jr expected to sign with Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are expected to sign free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr (per Adam Schefter)

Fantasy Impact: Odell teaming up with Matthew Stafford, Cooper Kupp, and Robert Woods is certainly great from a real football perspective. Fantasy-wise, this will be interesting to see how it plays out. Immediate thoughts are the addition of a legit 3rd weapon in LA starts to diminish Kupp’s ridiculous team target share and his record pace likely will slow down now. There aren’t too many better offenses for OBJ to have joined so even with less target share potential, he’s likely going to be hyper-efficient with his touches.

Cam Newton signs with the Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers are brining back quarterback Cam Newton, signing him after placing Sam Darnold on IR (per Ian Rapoport)

Fantasy Impact: With Darnold on IR, Newton was obviously signed to start for the Panthers. We’ll wait and see if he’ll be able to start in Week 10. If not, Newton will get his first start Week 11 vs Washington and his old head coach Ron Rivera.

Sam Darnold out “at least 4 weeks” with shoulder injury

The Carolina Panthers are placing quarterback Sam Darnold on IR and he will be out “at least four weeks” (per Joe Person)

Fantasy Impact: With Darnold sidelined, the Panthers will likely start PJ Walker at quarterback. Walker started one game last year for the Panthers, finishing with 258 yards and 1 touchdown. D.J. Moore was his leading target that game with 11 for 127 yards.

Nick Chubb tests positive for COVID-19, doubtful Week 10 vs Patriots

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has tested positive for COVID-19 and is doubtful for Week 10’s game vs the New England Patriots (per Adam Schefter)

Fantasy Impact: Chubb and Demetric Felton both tested positive but are vaccinated so there’s a chance they’re back in time to play this week. If Chubb misses Week 10, D’Ernest Johnson will once again be in-line for all of Cleveland’s backfield work. He’d be an easy RB2 this week if that were the case.

Chase Edmonds expected to miss 3-4 games with high-ankle sprain

Arizona Cardinals running back Chase Edmonds suffered a high-ankle sprain vs the San Francisco 49ers and is expected to miss three to four weeks (per Ian Rapoport)

Fantasy Impact: With Edmonds out, James Conner ran all over the 49ers defense and finished with the best fantasy score of Week 9. Conner is a weekly high-end RB2 with Edmonds out. Eno Benjamin finished Sunday with 39 yards and a touchdown on 9 carries as Arizona’s RB2. He’s worth rostering in deep leagues.

DeVante Parker placed on Dolphins’ IR with hamstring injury

The Miami Dolphins have placed wide receiver DeVante Parker on their IR list with a hamstring injury, keeping him out the next three weeks (per Ian Rapoport)

Fantasy Impact: When on the field, Parker has been a terrific fantasy option but he just can’t stay healthy. With Parker out, Jaylen Waddle and Mike Gesicki will be Tua Tagovailoa’s top targets against a vulnerable Texans’ secondary. Both should be thought of as high fantasy options for Week 9.

Odell Beckham Jr released by Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns have released star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr after the two sides came together and agreed to “end his Cleveland tenure” (per Ian Rapoport)

Fantasy Impact: After Odell wasn’t moved at the trade deadline, it seemed destined that he’d be released. Now we just wait and see where he’ll land, be it on waivers or as a free agent. For the Browns, Jarvis Landry and Donovan Peoples-Jones become Cleveland’s top receivers.
