NFL DFS DraftKings Showdown Week 3 Picks: Steelers at Browns

Nick Chubb is ready to carry your lineup. Picking the best players to put in your Captain and Flex spot for Week 3's Steelers at Browns DFS DraftKings Showdown.

All good things must come to an end unfortunately. The NFL gave us two consecutive intriguing Thursday night games to begin the season, only for the league to subject us to watching the current iteration of the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the current iteration of the Cleveland Browns to kickstart Week 3.

The impending matchup between the Steelers and the Browns opened with a 40.5 projected total, but it is now down to 38.5 at most sportsbooks as Vegas understands just how ugly this game could get. The 38.5 projected total is the lowest of any game in Week 3, which is impressive considering that the Chicago Bears and the Houston Texans will square off on Sunday.

Even though this game could be a low-scoring battle, that doesn’t mean we won’t be taking part in showdown contests over at DraftKings. While you might feel obligated to get something done around the house instead of watching this game, let’s take a look at who I’m liking at the captain and flex spots on DraftKings.

Captain Spot Considerations

Nick Chubb ($18,000)

For those that weren’t aware, Chubb is pretty, pretty good at this football thing. The talented running back for the Browns has combined for 50.6 DraftKings points through the first 2 weeks with 228 rushing yards and 3 rushing touchdowns on 39 carries.

Chubb leads all running backs that have received 50% or more of the backfield rushing attempts in our PER metric with an impressive 1.06. I typically prefer to use pass-catching running backs in the captain spot on DraftKings due to it being a full-point PPR site, but Chubb could easily be the highest scorer in this potential low-scoring affair.

Diontae Johnson ($13,800)

There was some concern about whether or not Johnson would continue to dominate targets on the Steelers following the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger. In two weeks with Mitch Trubisky throwing him the ball, Johnson has a 31% target share, which is the seventh-highest mark among wide receivers and is higher than guys like Tyreek Hill and Justin Jefferson.

The defense of the Browns were just torched for 307 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns in their Week 2 loss to the New York Jets and Myles Garrett is uncertain to play with a neck injury…
