NFL DFS Pick One: Top Targets for Week 16

Dawson Knox, Juwan Johnson, or Chig Okonkwo? Picking between similarly priced players at each position for Week 16 NFL DFS fantasy football.

Welcome to Week 16 NFL DFS Pick One where I make my selection from a group of similarly priced players on DraftKings from each of the positions and pick the one I’d take when building my Sunday main slate lineups. Its a 10-game Saturday slate this week so here’s hoping you get a nice Christmas Eve bonus with your winning DFS lineup this week.

Quarterback

Daniel Jones @ Minnesota Vikings ($5,600), Brock Purdy vs Washington Commanders ($5,500) or Jared Goff @ Carolina Panthers ($5,400)

My Pick – Daniel Jones

Despite the fact the Lions have the far better offense than the Giants, I’m going with Jones over Goff (sorry Brock, you don’t get a look in here) as the matchup vs the 29th-rated pass defense per NEFF rankings is too good not to go after. Jones has also been a more consistent fantasy performer, ranking as the QB8 in my NECC rankings vs Goff as the QB30, something I’m looking for if I’m not investing heavily at the quarterback position. Finally, Jones ranks as the QB5 in fantasy points per game as a rusher with 6.2, and that floor makes him very tempting to roster in DFS this week.

Running Back

Dalvin Cook vs New York Giants ($7,200), Rhamondre Stevenson vs Cincinnati Bengals ($7,100) or Tony Pollard vs Philadelphia Eagles ($7,000)

My Pick – Dalvin Cook

I’ve barely rostered Cook all season in DFS but I like the matchup vs a Giants run defense that ranks in the bottom 5 per NEFF rankings. Cook is also coming off on of his best games of the season last week in the epic comeback win against the Colts and with the Vikings still technically in the running for the number one seed in the NFC, Cook will continue to see volume touches.

Jerick McKinnon vs Seattle Seahawks ($5,900), Cordarrelle Patterson @ Baltimore Ravens ($5,800) or J.K. Dobbins vs Atlanta Falcons ($5,800)

My Pick – Jerick McKinnon

I missed out on McKinnon last week as he registered his second consecutive 30+ point game in the win over the Texans. With multiple running backs having big days in the passing game against the Seahawks this season, McKinnon should again make hay as a receiver alongside his rushing work.

Wide Receiver

Amari Cooper vs New Orleans Saints ($5,900), JuJu Smith-Schuster vs Seattle Seahawks ($5,800) or DJ Moore vs Detroit Lions ($5,500)

My Pick – DJ Moore

Moore is being super efficient since Sam Darnold took over under center and faces the 31st-ranked defense in points allowed to wide receivers in the Lions this week. In a game that is critical for both teams’ playoff hopes, I’m liking Moore to have another big game and lots of lovely DFS points.

K.J. Osborn vs New York Giants ($4,500), Kadarius Toney vs Seattle Seahawks ($4,400) or Curtis Samuel @ San Francisco 49ers ($4,400)

My Pick – K.J. Osborn

Osborn was instrumental in the Vikings’ comeback last week and still retains good value this week against a below average Giants pass defense (22nd per NEFF).

Tight End

Dawson Knox @ Chicago Bears ($4,100), Juwan Johnson @ Cleveland Browns ($3,800) or Chig Okonkwo vs Houston Texans ($3,500)

My Pick – Juwan Johnson

Johnson currently ranks as the TE7 in .5PPR leagues and he has returned at least 12 fantasy points in four of his last five games. With no Chris Olave and Jarvis Landry now on IR, Johnson takes on an even bigger role and is a great bet for a touchdown this week.

D/ST

Washington Commanders @ San Francisco 49ers ($2,400), Carolina Panthers vs Detroit Lions ($2,300) or Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys ($2,200)

My Pick – Philadelphia Eagles

I get why the Eagles have been given such a low salary for this week against a Cowboys team that is second in points allowed to DSTs, but in a game where they may need to rely on their defense with Jalen Hurts out, the value is worth rostering. The Eagles are the DST4 in 2022 so I’m happy to take the chance as invest salary elsewhere this week.
