NFL DFS Pick One: Top Targets for Week 14

AJ Brown, Ja'Marr Chase, or Amon-Ra St. Brown? Picking between similarly priced players at each position for Week 14 NFL DFS fantasy football.

Welcome to Week 14 NFL DFS Pick One where I make my selection from a group of similarly priced players on DraftKings from each of the positions and pick the one I’d take when building my Sunday main slate lineups.

Quarterback

Dak Prescott vs Houston Texans ($6,500), Deshaun Watson @ Cincinnati Bengals ($6,400) or Geno Smith vs Carolina Panthers ($6,200)

My Pick – Geno Smith

Geno has been super consistent in fantasy this season and has been trending up in recent weeks, with at least 275 yards and 2 touchdowns in each of his last four games. With the Seahawks needing a win to stay in the playoff hunt in the NFC and some doubts around the health of Kenneth Walker heading into this week, I can see it falling on Geno’s shoulders to lead the team to victory and another big game in DFS.

Running Back

Saquon Barkley vs Philadelphia Eagles ($8,000), Derrick Henry vs Jacksonville Jaguars ($7,900) or Nick Chubb @ Cincinnati Bengals ($7,800)

My Pick – Derrick Henry

These three were in last week’s article and I made the wrong choice picking Nick Chubb in what looked like a layup against the Texans where he managed just 8 points to Saquon Barkley’s 19.1. This week I’m going another way and backing Derrick Henry to get back on track against the Jaguars. The Titans have stumbled in back to back losses against the Bengals and Eagles and a game against the wayward Jaguars is what they need to get back on track, led by their star player.

Miles Sanders @ New York Giants ($6,200), Ezekiel Elliot vs Houston Texans ($6,100) or Dameon Pierce @ Dallas Cowboys ($6,000)

My Pick – Ezekiel Elliot

I didn’t think I’d ever see myself nominating Elliot this year, especially with the play of Tony Pollard but the Texans are a complete mess and I can see both Zeke and Pollard going off in this game. The Texans are light on any talent in the passing game with Brandin Cooks and Nico Collins set to miss the encounter, which means the Cowboys should have a field day on defense and therefore should be able to lean on Elliott to continue his form of at least 15 fantasy points in each of his last five games.

Wide Receiver

A.J. Brown @ New York Giants ($8,000), Ja’Marr Chase vs Cleveland Browns ($7,900) or Amon-Ra St. Brown vs Minnesota Vikings ($7,800)

My Pick – Amon-Ra St.Brown

St. Brown is on fire over the past couple of weeks with back to back games of over 30 points in DFS. This week’s matchup vs a Vikings team that currently ranks 30th against the pass per my NEFF rankings is too good an opportunity to turn down.

Brandon Aiyuk vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($5,800), JuJu Smith-Schuster @ Denver Broncos ($5,600) or DJ Moore @ Seattle Seahawks ($5,500)

My Pick – DJ Moore

Moore came alive last time out in Sam Darnold’s first outing at quarterback for the Panthers and with them still in the hunt for a playoff place due to the below average play from this year’s NFC South, there is all to play for in this game. The Seahawks are a below average pass defense and Moore should lead the Panthers in receiving and post another strong DFS showing.

Tight End

Pat Freiermuth vs Baltimore Ravens ($4,500), Dalton Schultz vs Houston Texans ($4,400) or George Kittle vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($4,300)

My Pick – Pat Freiermuth

It feels like any tight end outside of the top three or four options is a complete stab in the dark at this point but at least Freiermuth has a defined role in the team. He’s averaging seven targets per game over the last six weeks, ranking sixth among TEs in target share (18%). The lack of touchdowns is the reason he’s in the $4,000’s and not priced higher. If I’m not paying up for Travis Kelce or TJ Hockenson this week, Freiermuth is my best play.

Defense/Special Teams

Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans ($3,800), Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants ($3,700) or Seattle Seahawks vs Carolina Panthers ($3,600)

My Pick – Dallas Cowboys

Absolute no brainer here given what the Browns defense did last week against the Texans. Houston are missing their top two receivers and have gone back to Davis Mills at quarterback. That they’re not the most expensive salary for a DST this week is reason enough to smash that draft button this week.
