NFL DFS Lineup Advice & Picks for Week 5

Building the best NFL DFS lineup for Week 5 starts with investing in the Giants' passing game vs Dallas.

How was your Week 4 in NFL DFS? Mine was a case of close but no cigar as I finished with 154.02 points and some big hits but with one major disappointment. I got great returns from Derrick Henry (28.7 pts), DJ Moore (34.9 pts) and Dawson Knox (20.7 pts), but got almost nothing from Nyheim Hines (2.1 pts) as my RB2, and that cost me big time. We go again for a new week, so here is my best DraftKings NFL DFS lineup for the Week 5 Sunday slate of games, breaking down my reasoning for selecting those players and hopefully helping you with your DFS selections for the week ahead.

Note: I’m setting my lineup based on the standard nine player, $50k salary cap setup for the Sunday slate of games, excluding Sunday Night Football.

Quarterback: Daniel Jones @ Dallas Cowboys ($6,000)

Jones hurt me when I put him my lineup in two weeks ago in a favorable match up against the Falcons but I’m back for more in a big NFC East clash. He’s coming off his first ever 400 yard passing game and continues to be a very efficient runner, ranking 3rd in fantasy rushing points per game of all quarterbacks. In what could be a high scoring game in Dallas, I’m taking a chance of Danny Dimes again in Week 5.

Running Back: Aaron Jones @ Cincinnati Bengals ($7,900)

This could be a case of instant regret in not rostering Derrick Henry vs the Jaguars, but his $9,000 tag for this week is just too rich for me. Jones has RB1 upside every week as the all-down back in an offense that is starting to regain its 2020 form and at $1,100 less tham Henry, allows me more flexibility in my lineup this week.

Running Back: Ezekiel Elliott vs New York Giants ($7,000)

Zeke looks to be back to his best over the past couple of weeks and faces a Giants run defense that ranks as being below average in 2021 so far. With all the passing weapons in the game for the Cowboys, Zeke should eat again this week and continue his good form.

Wide Receiver: Mike Evans vs Miami Dolphins ($6,800)

Even in a week where the Patriots held Tom Brady in check, Evans still scored 14.5 fantasy points and this week has a better match up against the Dolphins. Its a coin flip between Evans and Chris Godwin on a week to week basis, and though Godwin has outscored Evans and is $500 cheaper this week, I’ll take Evans’ higher ceiling.

Wide Receiver: Kenny Golladay @ Dallas Cowboys ($5,900)

We’re seeing an improving Golladay every week as he works his way back to both full health and grows his chemistry with Daniel Jones. In a potential shootout with the Cowboys, Golladay’s big play threat and likelihood to be fed targets with other Giants receivers injured means he’s getting a roster spot in my lineup this week.

Wide Receiver: Laviska Shenault Jr. vs Tennessee Titans ($4,800)

The season ending injury suffered by D.J. Chark last week means Shenault has a clear path to increased targets and lots of lovely fantasy points. Especially this week as the Jaguars are facing what has been one of the worst fantasy pass defenses this season in the Titans. Shenault had 110 total yards last week and see that as his floor for Week 5.

Tight End: Zach Ertz @ Carolina Panthers ($3,400)

I’m looking for value at the tight end position this week and Zach Ertz offers that with some solid upside. Double-digit points in each of the last two weeks solid upside. In very much a timeshare with Dallas Goedert, Ertz is seeing more looks in the red zone, plus is seeing six to eight targets a game so though he has a limited ceiling, he has touchdown upside every week and that’s what I’m looking for from a value play at the position.

Flex: A.J. Green vs San Francisco 49ers ($5,100)

Kyler Murray is on fire in 2021 and A.J. Green has been a big beneficiary of Murray’s stellar play. Coming off back-to-back weeks with over 17 fantasy points, Green is looking more like his old self and facing the 49ers’ very average pass defense offers more opportunities to have a another solid week from the flex position for me.

D/ST: Minnesota Vikings vs Detroit Lions ($3,000)

Some great value here for an improving defense who should dominate a below average Lions offense. The Vikings offense should be able to put up points on this Lions defense and that gives the Vikings defense licence to get after Jared Goff and cause some turnovers. D/ST1 potential for the Vikings this week to round out my DFS lineup.

Who are you rostering in your DFS lineups this week?
