Welcome to Week 17 NFL DFS Pick One where I make my selection from a group of similarly priced players on DraftKings from each of the positions and pick the one I’d take when building my Sunday main slate lineups. Its the first slate of the New Year but with the playoffs just two weeks away, its one where the importance of the game to each team will make a huge difference to who you roster this week
Quarterback
Kirk Cousins @ Green Bay Packers ($6,400), Trevor Lawrence @ Houston Texans (6,200) or Tom Brady vs Carolina Panthers ($6,100)
My Pick – Kirk Cousins
Despite it being an outdoor game for Cousins, he’s been on a tear recently and has averaged just under 30 PPG over the last three weeks. His receiving weapons are in red hot form as well and the game has a nice edge to it with the Vikings chasing the No. 2 seed in the NFC and Packers on the edge of the playoffs. I like Cousins to continue his scoring streak this week.
Running Back
Josh Jacobs vs San Francisco 49ers ($7,400), Nick Chubb @ Washington Commanders ($7,300) or James Conner @ Atlanta Falcons ($7,200)
My Pick – James Conner
I’m picking the in the best recent form and with the best match up of the three in Conner this week. He’s averaging just under 23 PPG over his last four starts and with David Blough set to start for the first time at quarterback, the Cardinals will continue to lean on Conner to be the focus of the offense. He’s also been one of the most consistent and efficient fantasy backs this season per NECC rating.
AJ Dillon vs Minnesota Vikings ($5,800), D’Onta Foreman @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($5,700) or Isiah Pacheco vs Denver Broncos ($5,600)
My Pick – AJ Dillon
Dillon has been a touchdown machine in recent weeks, finding the end zone five times in his last four games. The Vikings run defense is slightly below league average, ranking 18th per NEFF rush defense ratings and offers value for both Dillon and Aaron Jones ($7,100) in DFS this week in a must-win game for the Packers.
Wide Receiver
A.J. Brown vs New Orleans Saints ($7,900), Amon-Ra St. Brown vs Detroit Lions ($7,800) or DeAndre Hopkins @ Atlanta Falcons ($7,700)
My Pick – Amon-Ra St. Brown
With Jalen Hurts set to return this week, I was tempted by A.J. Brown but I’m taking St. Brown who has been steady if unspectacular over the past three weeks and feels set to explode again this week against an average Bears pass defense (14th per NEFF) back in the dome in Detroit.
Marquise Brown @ Atlanta Falcons ($5,500), Garrett Wilson @ Seattle Seahawks ($5,500) or Allen Lazard vs Minnesota Vikings ($5,400)
My Pick – Garrett Wilson
Mike White is back and Garrett Wilson must be licking his chops after putting up with the service from Zach Wilson and Chris Streveler over the past two weeks. His last two full games with White at QB saw Wilson put up 26 and 27 points and I’m hoping for the same against the 24th rated pass defense in the Seahawks this week.
Tight End
Dallas Goedert vs New Orleans Saints ($4,700), Cole Kmet @ Detroit Lions or Evan Engram @ Houston Texans ($4,400)
My Pick – Dallas Goedert
It was a slow start in Goedert’s return from his five game injury layoff, seeing just three targets. However, he caught all 3 for 67 yards showing he’s not rusty and should see an uptick in production this week, especially with Jalen Hurts trending to return.
D/ST
New England Patriots vs Miami Dolphins ($2,600), Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars ($2,500) or Caroliona Panthers vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($2,400)
My Pick – New England Patriots
There look to be lots of value plays on the DST slate this week but the Patriots at home vs Teddy Bridgewater making his first start and the Dolphins riding a four-game losing streak makes me sit up and take notice. There’s risk as the Dolphins’ short passing game to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle could feast in this game but its a risk I’m happy to take at this price.
