It was a mixed bag when it came to my fantasy football quarterback rankings in Week 1. Accuracy-wise I was bang in line with the average over at Fantasy Pros, which I’ll take and see if what I learned from the first weekend of the new season and apply to the Week 2 rankings.
My biggest wins came from my rankings of Dak Prescott, Russell Wilson and Trevor Lawrence who I had ranked as top-10 quarterbacks, with my my biggest miss coming from the massive egg that Aaron Rodgers laid after I ranked him as my QB3 in Week 1 (finished as the QB30!).
I’ll continue to post my quarterback rankings for fantasy football each, and will break down the key teams you can look to start, top streamers, and my favorite value DFS play for the week ahead.
These rankings are subject to change throughout the week, so check back as any quarterback news drops to see how it is reflected in my rankings. If you have any specific quarterback rankings or starts and sits questions, drop them in the comments or you can get me @PaddiCooper on Twitter.
Stream of the Week
Jared Goff (QB16, 15% rostered) — I nailed my stream of the week by picking Jameis Winston, who took his opportunity against a pitiful Green Bay Packers defense to land nearly 30 fantasy points and finish as the QB3. I’m pick Jared Goff this week who may end up being a great fantasy quarterback in the same way Blake Bortles was for a while as the Detroit Lions feel like they will be chasing games a lot and Goff then has to throw a ton to try and catch up. Goff finished as the QB4 in fantasy in Week 1 in a losing effort, and I’m expecting the Lions to be chasing again as the Packers get back on track after their horrible start to the season last week.
Alternative streamer – Teddy Bridgewater @ Jacksonville Jaguars (14% rostered)
DFS Play of the Week
Dak Prescott (QB5, $6,800) — I loved everything about the way Dak played in the season opener at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He didn’t miss a beat from where he was playing before the injury last year, finishing as the QB6 in fantasy scoring with over 400 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns. Facing a Los Angeles Chargers defense in Week 2 that did well in Week 1 against Washington but isn’t at the same level as the Bucs, Dak will continue to make hay and has a chance to be the QB1 this week.
Alternative DFS play – Matthew Stafford @ Indianapolis Colts ($6,400)
