Welcome to the fantasy football Week 10 running back rankings hub!
Carolina’s Christian McCaffrey is back in the No. 1 overall spot. The Cardinals are going to be without Chase Edmonds (ankle) for some time, which solidifies James Conner as a high-volume RB1 in one of the league’s best offenses. With both Browns backs Nick Chubb and Demetric Felton likely out for Week 10 due to positive COVID-19 tests, it’s looking like another D’Ernest Johnson week. Rookie 49ers back Elijah Mitchell saw both the highest single game routes run (28, PFF.com) and target total (5) of his young career last week. That’s huge. We’ve been targeting the passing game RBs who face the New York Jets for a few weeks now. This week, Devin Singletary gets that honor with Zack Moss (concussion) likely unable to play. Take Singletary seriously this week. He’s an RB2. Denver’s Javonte Williams looks great, but so does Denver’s lead back Melvin Gordon.
Below are my top-60 running backs for Week 10. These rankings are geared toward .5PPR scoring formats for Week 10 of the 2021 NFL season but should aid those who play in both non-PPR and full-point PPR formats. I’ve also included my top RB streaming option this week and DFS play of the week (cost via FanDuel).
Check back throughout the week to see how expectations have changed as news continues to roll in, enhancing our prognostication abilities. Feel free to hit me up on twitter @Ginger__Nic for any fantasy related advice.
Stream of the Week: Mark Ingram at Tennessee Titans
The Saints haven’t wasted time getting Ingram involved in all facets of the game.
Player | Week | Snap % | ATT-YDS-TD | Routes | REC/TGT-YDS-TD | RZ TGT/ATT | Inside-5 TGT/ATT |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Alvin Kamara | Week 8 | 67% | 19-61-1 | 21 | 3/4-15-0 | 2/5 | 0/3 |
Mark Ingram | Week 8 | 29% | 6-27-0 | 9 | 2/2-25-0 | 0/1 | 0/0 |
Alvin Kamara | Week 9 | 68% | 13-50-1 | 29 | 4/7-54-0 | 0/1 | 0/1 |
Mark Ingram | Week 9 | 34% | 9-43-0 | 11 | 5/5-21-0 | 0/1 | 0/0 |
The veteran back has proven that he’s still a capable dual threat back and the fact that Sean Payton felt confident in loading Ingram up with such a voluminous passing game workload in Ingram’s second 2021 game as a Saint bodes very well. New Orleans brought in three running backs for workouts this week and NOLA beat reporter Nick Underhill reported that there are whispers Kamara “might have gotten a little banged up” in Week 9.
Here’s video of the play in reference. Potentially where Alvin Kamara got hurt. @FBInjuryDoc @TheRealAdam_H @ProFootballDoc Do you guys happen to see anything here? https://t.co/4uvjCblJ0R pic.twitter.com/3taFZod8Bn

We don’t yet know how this will play out but Ingram’s looking like a lock to repeat his 14-touch Week 9 performance at worst. That’s a valuable workload at this point in the season.
DFS Play of the Week: Christian McCaffrey ($9,000) at Arizona Cardinals
In his first game back from re-injuring his hamstring, CMC played on 49% of the offensive snaps, ran 12 routes (PFF.com), carried the ball 14 times for 52 yards, caught 4-of-5 targets for 54 yards, and suffered no setbacks. We should safely expect all of those numbers to increase in Week 10 against a banged up Cardinals’ front-seven. McCaffrey’s $9,000 salary number on FanDuel is third among all RBs, which needs to be taken advantage of. He should have the highest salary cap number of the position.
