Welcome to the fantasy football Week 13 running back rankings hub!
Indy’s Jonathan Taylor is our new RB1, followed closely by Minnesota’s Alexander Mattison (thanks to a little help from Detroit). Washington may finally be treating Antonio Gibson like the dual threat lead back that he is. Dallas backs Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard are nebulous, high-end RB2s as we try to parse through Jerry Jones’ blather.
Below are my top-60 running backs for Week 13. These rankings are geared toward .5PPR scoring formats for Week 13 of the 2021 NFL season but should aid those who play in both non-PPR and full-point PPR formats. I’ve also included my top RB streaming option this week and DFS play of the week (cost via FanDuel).
Check back throughout the week to see how expectations have changed as news continues to roll in, enhancing our prognostication abilities. Feel free to hit me up on twitter @Ginger__Nic for any fantasy related advice.
Stream of the Week: Alexander Mattison at Detroit Lions
Alexander Mattison is as much of a lock for 100+ scrimmage yards and at least 1 touchdown as there’s ever been. The Lions are just 25th in run defense NEFF rating and are currently allowing 25.3 .5PPR RB PPG, 3rd most in the NFL. Two of Mattison’s four career starts have come against Detroit. In those two outings, the stud back totaled 208 rushing yards and 1 touchdown while remarkably averaging 4.52 yards per carry each time. Mattison’s receiving ability was also on full display–he also caught 10-of-10 targets for 90-yards and 2 touchdowns. He’s this week’s second ranked running back.
DFS Play of the Week: Jamaal Williams ($6,500) vs. Minnesota Vikings
D’Andre Swift (AC joint sprain) is looking like he’s going to sit for Week 13 and Williams, a long time NFC North veteran having played four years as a Green Bay Packer, is first in line for starting duties. In his last 3 contests vs. Minnesota, 2 as a Packer and 1 as a Lion, Williams averaged a decent 4.29 yards per carry and caught all 12 passes thrown his way during that span. Three-quarters of Minnesota’s defensive line (Danielle Hunter-IR, Michael Pierce-IR, Everson Griffen-Reserve/Non-Football Illness) will all be out on Sunday, LB Anthony Barr (knee/hamstring) is very unlikely to play, and DT Dalvin Tomlinson spent last week battling COVID-19. Last week, San Fran’s Elijah Mitchell took 27 carries for 133 yards and 1 touchdown, sprinkling 5 catches on 6 targets for 35 receiving yards. Williams is a high-end RB2.
