Week 6 fantasy football is here which means it’s time for tight end rankings!
Things are starting to settle out in the tight end world. Guys like Dawson Knox and Dalton Shultz, guys who were on the periphery, have established consistent, desirable usage in their offenses. As well, tight ends like Robert Tonyan and Gerald Everett, TEs I was excited about during draft season, simply haven’t been involved like I expected.
With that, we also head into the bye weeks, tight ends of note who’ll be out this week will be Kyle Pitts (Atlanta Falcons) and Juwan Johnson (New Orleans Saints). The New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers are also taking a break, but with George Kittle already on IR, we’re really just missing Pitts this week.
I’ll call out a couple of tight ends of streaming and DFS (salary via DraftKings) note. And so, check out the ranks, let me know what you think.
Stream of the Week: Mo Alie-Cox vs Houston Texans
The Colts have struggled through a tough schedule early in the season. Indianapolis has lost to the Seahawks, Rams, Titans, and Ravens, picking up their lone win against the Dolphins. The Colts’ losses have been pretty close, though, and so I don’t believe the Colts are a BAD team. Rather, the Colts are likely a middle-of-the-road squad who happens to be playing through a tough-stretch on their schedule.
This week, the Colts host the Texans who are giving up the most PPR fantasy points to opposing tight ends. The Texans are tied for last in TDs allowed and they’re giving up the fourth-most yards. Enter Mo Alie-Cox, currently the TE18 in PPR. Alie-Cox and his explosive skill set aligns nicely with a soft-matchup against Houston, and so this week Alie-Cox a good bet for a TD and 50-60 yards.
DFS Play of the Week: Mark Andrews ($5,000) vs Los Angeles Chargers
I’m not calling out Andrews just because of his insane production on Monday Night Football against the Colts, though that kind of performance certainly doesn’t hurt. The Ravens host the Chargers on Sunday, and the Chargers are giving up the third-most PPR points to TEs through five weeks.
Andrews is one of if not THE favorite pass-catcher for Lamar Jackson. With the Chargers defense keeping their safeties deep, willing to give up shorter plays and plays over the middle, teams are forced to run and take shorter passes. Those shorter passes should end up being the bread and butter for the Andrews-Jackson connection this Sunday. I doubt we’ll see another 40 point outing, but Andrews is an elite play at a high-but-not-prohibitive price tag.
