Contrary to last week’s Thursday night contest between the Raiders and Rams, the NFL likely didn’t see this week’s Thursday night game being a pivotal one. Despite the Seahawks struggling in recent weeks after a hot start, they are only two games behind the 49ers for the NFC West lead and half a game back for the No. 7 spot in the NFC playoff picture.
Injuries have taken a toll on the 49ers in recent weeks as Jimmy Garoppolo and Deebo Samuel are both inactive for Thursday’s divisional matchup. While San Francisco has strung together six straight wins, Seattle is looking to get back on track as the Seahawks have lost three of their last four games.
In what could be a competitive divisional game to kickstart Week 15, here are my favorite captain and flex plays for the showdown contest on DraftKings.
Captain Spot Considerations
Christian McCaffrey ($17,100)
McCaffrey was already handling a massive workload for the 49ers in recent weeks and that could increase with Samuel being ruled out for Thursday’s game. The dynamic back is essentially going to be the RB1 and WR1 for the 49ers, especially with a young quarterback like Brock Purdy under center. McCaffrey ranks RB13 in opportunity share (58.7%) and RB2 in target share, seeing almost 20% of the Niners’ targets. While he’s the most expensive player on the showdown slate, McCaffrey has scored 28-plus points in back-to-back weeks. On top of that, the Seahawks are allowing the second-most points per game, the fifth-most receptions per game, and the third-most receiving yards per game to RBs this season.
Tyler Lockett ($15,300)
It’s no secret that the defense of the 49ers is one of the best units in the NFL. Even with that being true, San Francisco’s defense is allowing the fifth-most points per game to slot WRs this season and Lockett sees the most snaps out of the slot for Seattle.
