NFL DFS Lineup Advice & Picks for Week 17

How was your Week 16 in NFL DFS? My scoring was better but overall I ended up losing places in an up week in DFS scoring.  My lineup only scored 134.56 points as four of my lineup (David Montgomery, Josh Palmer, Braxton Berrios and the Chiefs DST) hit, though ultimately I was let down by quiet days from Russel Gage (6.9 points) and Dallas Goedert (4.8 points).

Week 17 is going to be another wild ride in DFS interesting one with 14  games on the slate to choose players from, alongside the ever-changing number of players being added added to and removed from the COVID list. Based on the current information, I’ve selected my best DraftKings NFL DFS lineup for the Week 17 Sunday slate of games, breaking down my reasoning for selecting those players and hopefully helping you with your DFS selections for the week ahead.

Note: I’m setting my lineup based on the standard nine player, $50k salary cap setup for the Sunday slate of games, excluding Sunday Night Football.

Quarterback: Jalen Hurts @ Washington Football Team ($6,600)

I’m rolling with Hurts again this week as he looks to take on even more in the run game against Washington with Miles Sanders ruled out. His 16.7 points last week were a little disappointing as he got off to a slow start against the Giants, but his value/upside in a must win game is sky high and an easy start for me.

Running Back: Jonathan Taylor vs Las Vegas Raiders ($9,000)

Taylor remains the dollar running back and with the Colts’ season on the line, will be in line for another heavy work day. I’m sure plenty of players will be looking to swerve Taylor at his price and likely roster percentage but I prefer a sure thing and Taylor leads my lineup this week.

Running Back: Rashad Penny vs Detroit Lions ($6,100)

Penny has 311 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns in his last three games, with double digit rush attempts in each of the last four. The Lions allow the 6th most points to running backs and this gives Penny a ton of upside this week.

Wide Receiver: Devonta Smith @ Washington Football Team ($6,300)

Smith saw his most targets since Week 7 last week against the Giants and faces a Washington team fresh off allowing 5 receiving touchdowns last week to the Cowboys. This gives Smith some great upside, especially when stacked with Hurts.

Wide Receiver: Antonio Brown @ New York Jets ($6,100)

Brown’s status is up in the air with an ankle injury but if he goes then he’ll be a target hog for Tom Brady. He had 10 receptions for 101 yards last week and should pile up the receptions again this week against the Jets. If he doesn’t play, I’m considering either Brandin Cooks or Mike Williams (both $6,000) in his place.

Wide Receiver: Michael Gallup vs Arizona Cardinals ($4,800)

Gallup has seen at least five targets in every game since he returned from injury in Week 10, with four of those games seeing him doubling his salary in fantasy points. I’m relying on Gallup’s big play ability to make rostering his worthwhile but I like the potential in the Cowboys’ high-octane offense.

Tight End: Cole Kmet vs New York Giants ($3,400)

Kmet has been a steady presence in the Bears’ passing game all season and has 40 or more receiving yards and in four of his last 5 games and 4 or more receptions in three of those. Hardly blistering numbers but as a value play at the tight end position, he has potential in a nothing game for either team.

Flex: Hunter Henry vs Jacksonville Jaguars ($4,200)

Henry has been a reliable red zone target for Mac Jones, with 9 touchdowns on the season. Jacksonville are a mess at all levels of their defense and I like Henry’s touchdown upside this week.

D/ST: New Orleans Saints vs Carolina Panthers ($3,400)

The Saints offer great value this week against a Panthers offense that allows the third most points to fantasy defenses. Sam Darnold is getting the start this week and his last five starts have averaged 11.8 points to opposition DSTs. With the Saints getting healthy after losing a ton of players to the covid list last week, they could offer a  solid return to round out your DFS lineup this week.
