Well it’s finally here. Week 1 of the NFL season has finally arrived and with it comes the start of fantasy football. All those drafts that you relentlessly prepared for are complete and now its the easy job of setting your first lineup of the season to get you that all important win. I’ll be here every week with my fantasy quarterback rankings, and will breakdown the key names you can look to start, top streamers, and my best value DFS play for the week ahead.

Start of the Week

Trevor Lawrence (QB10) – I’m going big with my first start of the week by selecting the No. 1 overall pick to drop a huge score on the Houston Texans in his debut. Lawrence looked every bit the top quarterback prospect in his last preseason outing, and facing what looks to be the worst team in the NFL first up could not be a better opposition for him.

I love the Jacksonville Jaguars receiving corps, with the combination of D.J. Chark, Laviska Shenault, and Marvin Jones offering a great mix of youth and experience to support Lawrence as he gets going in the NFL. I’ve ranked Lawrence as my QB10 in Week 1 and look forward to seeing him carve up the Texans and announce himself as a fantasy QB1 in a big way.

Stream of the Week

Jameis Winston (QB15) – Why not? After winning the starting job in New Orleans, the Jameis Winston reclamation project is officially up and running. Despite his troubles with throwing to the opposite team at the end of his time in Tampa Bay, he still finished as the QB4 that year in fantasy. Under the tutelage of Sean Payton, Winston could be a viable QB1 again.

He starts with a visit from the Green Bay Packers, who were a very average pass defense in 2020 and should give Winston a solid chance to put up good numbers in Week 1. Yes his receiving corps looks thin and inexperienced, but the connection with Marquez Callaway looks exciting and Alvin Kamara remains a target hog and can create magic after the catch. He’s available in just under half of leagues and could be a Week 1 winner if you want to go bold straight out of the gate.

DFS Value Play of the Week

Zach Wilson (QB17) – I have to admit I’ve been smitten by everything I’ve seen and read about Zach Wilson this off-season and think he could finally be the answer New York Jets fans have been looking for at quarterback.

Wilson’s Week 1 matchup against the Carolina Panthers, whose young defense struggled against the pass last year, could make for an excellent rookie debut. I like Corey Davis as his No. 1 target, and there’s enough depth around him in the rest of the receiving corps that he has a variety of options to put up solid Week 1 numbers at just $5,000 on DraftKings. The connection with Tyler Croft ($2500) in the preseason was also intriguing and one I’m considering in DFS this week as a value stack.
